the edge of the fountain—

& pain & a little bit
of sugar cane

wedges of wood
& sand dials & dollars
life set the misery trap

the cliché white lotus or was it
something a little less lovely
that stole the show

a milky might
a fog & burn
all the beauty
pressured in

& when we die
does it stay behind?
